11:30am – 12:30pm – Message In A Bottle Workshop – Make a Steampunk keepsake of a secret message to someone special, place it in a miniature amber glass bottle and hang it on a cord. Gold wire and beads provided to enhance your bottle. Take a piece of our parchment paper and share a poem, a clever quote, a proposal of marriage or other meaningful missive and gift it to your loved one or wear it yourself. 20 participants maximum. SOLD OUT! – 11:30am – 1:30pm – Leather Hip Belt Workshop – Designed to be worn over your clothes, over a corset, or a shirt, this hip belt is endlessly one size fits most. It is fully adjustable in the back with a lace tie closure, it comes with options for hanging all manner of ghost hunting equipment, tankard cups, tea dueling holsters or whatever the spirits command you to add. Four choices of hardware color, (shiny or antique gold or shiny or antique silver). and two choices of leather for the belt (black or brown). Cost: $50 per person. Limited to 12 people. 12pm-1pm – I Can Steampunk That – This Panel will discuss steampunk cosplay mashups with a special look at steampunk variants. We will also discuss how you can add the aesthetic of steampunk with the colors and style clues from your favorite character to blend the mashup smoothly. – Joe & Barbara Cluck – Salon F
1pm-2pm – Haunted Miniatures – Carol and Willa Taylor will teach tips and tricks to “spookify” your miniature projects! Ranging from miniature scenery for your favorite taxidermy to full 1:12 scale dollhouses, you will learn the best materials and best prices to build haunting themed minis for all skill levels. 1pm-2pm – Booked For Steam: Steampunk Fiction You Won’t Want To Miss – Want to read some rollicking good steampunk fiction but don’t know where to start? Join panelists Madeleine Holly-Rosing, Laura Huber Folmer, and Bill Bodden as we share our top picks of relatively recent steampunk reads from among novels, short stories, and graphic novels. 1pm-2pm – MAKE & TAKE: Spooky Gravestone Racers – Have some fun decorating your gravestone mobile that runs on preternatural energy. Race it against other metaphysical vehicles and may the best creep mobile win! Limited quantity of racers and a minimum of two participants for a challenge. 1pm-3pm – Tea Dueling 101 & Friday Tea Dueling Competition – Join Madam Askew, the Grand Arbiter, and their Temporal Entourage, for your final chance to play the most exciting Steampunk sport of the 21st Century! One part art, one part science, and always includes a cup of tea and biscuit! 1:30pm – 3:30pm – Paper Lantern Holiday Ornament Workshop – Students can choose which design they would like to go with and then can personalize their piece with accessories of their choosing using Mod Podge, hot glue, tape, and/or super glue. Each kit will have a paper lantern for decorating, a plastic cap to use as either a base for a spooky ball or a ornament cap, “wood” and “metal” decorative tape to cover the cap, a decorative wire piece (for ornament designs), “Happy Holidays” and “Welcome Foolish Mortals” cut outs, a random selection of several feet of decorative ribbons and trim pieces, steampunk cogs and gears, buttons and/or metal decorative pieces, and a string of battery operated fairy lights.
Students in class will be walked through how to put together their design, having the opportunity to pick out their own different colors and/or pattern tissue papers and will be taught how to paper mache them onto their lanterns. Those in class can also pick from ropes, dozens of ribbons and trims, Washi tapes, stickers, use Sharpies or paint pens, and have choices of holiday charms, rhinestones, bells, pipe cleaners, and more available to them. 2pm-3:30pm – Apocalypse Later Roadshow Part 1 – The Apocalypse Later Roadshow is a mini-film festival series hosted by Hal C. F. Astell of Apocalypse Later at conventions across the southwest. He’ll present two curated sets of quality international short films, some of which are still working their way through the festival circuit. SOLD OUT – 2pm – 5pm – Shears At the Ready Workshop – Learn basic leather sewing and some tooling. In this class students will receive some shears (yes…we provide the shears!) and then while learning a basic leather stitch, you will create a sheath for it to go in, belt loop and all. We will help you learn the saddle stitch to create your sheath, dye it and even decorate it a bit if time permits. When you are done, you will have a snazzy pair of shears and a sheath because you never know when a rogue Spirit or Apparition might need assistance (or have a loose thread…) and now you will be ever at the ready!
Instructor Provides: Shears, Needles, Thread, Leather for sheath, tooling stamps and items needed to borrow for class time, and dye. **Students must bring 2 pairs of pliers. 6pm-7pm – Winchester Mystery House – Take a journey through one of the nation’s most bazaar, eccentric, and haunted homes. Under constant construction for nearly 40 years to ward off evil spirits, Sara Winchester’s spiritual guides encouraged her outlandish and often spooky mansion’s growth and decoration. Is it haunted? If the spirit moves you, come join historian Dawn Devine and photographer Alisha Westerfeld for a narrated history and photo journey through this perplexing building. – Dawn Devine – Salon B

7pm-8pm – Demystifying Divination: An Empowerment Class – Ever wonder what a psychic, intuitive consultant, reader or medium does when they read for you? In this class we will touch on a brief history of divination, especially its increased popularity around the turn of the 19th – 20th century when Arthur Edward Waite and Pamela Colman Smith created the well-known Rider/ Waite/ Smith Tarot deck in 1909. We will review some of the more common methods of divination and how they work (tarot, runes, scrying, mediumship/channeling), discuss the difference between fortune telling and divination and dispel some common myths about psychic perception, help you learn how to distinguish charlatans from legitimate practitioners and empower you to choose the one(s) best suited to your needs.
